The effects of different levels of ventilation on the action of pancuronium in man.

چکیده
The effect of carbon dioxide on the neuromuscular blocking effect of the non-depolarizing muscle relaxants tubocurarine and gallamine has been known for some time. Kalow (1954) noted that the action of tubocurarine on an isolated muscle preparation was increased by lowering the pH. Payne (1958) found that in the anaesthetized cat the activity of tubocurarine was increased with a reduction of pH. Baraka (1964) and Katz and Wolf (1964) noted a delay in recovery from tubocurarine of patients with an acidosis. Walts, Lebowitz and Dillon (1967), however, found no significant difference in the response of patients to tubocurarine whether ventilation was controlled (mean Paco, 18.9 mm Hg) or assisted (mean Paco^ 49.2mm Hg). Both Baraka (1967) and Walts, Lebowitz and Dillon (1967) showed that the action of gallamine was antagonized by carbon dioxide.

THE USE OF 0.5% LIDOCAINE WITH FENTANYL AND PANCURONIUM FOR AXILLARY BLOCK
The present study was designed to assess the efficacy of fentanyl and pancuronium combined with dilute lidocaine solution for axillary block. Onehundred adult patients undergoing upper limb surgery were randomly allocated to receive either 0.6 mL/kg of 1 % lidocaine (6 mg/kg) or 0.6 mLlkg of 0.5% lidocaine (3 mg/kg) with 1 µg/kg of fentanyl and 0.5 mg of pancuronium. The onset of sensory a...
متن کاملThe role of natural ventilation on reducing indoor radon concentration
Due to the increasing of closed ventilation systems used in buildings, the risk of indoor radon is increased day by day. In this study, we selected two sample rooms to calculate the radon emission coefficient from different levels, radon concentration measured when the natural ventilation was completely closed and compared with the analytical results. The results clearly show the difference in ...
متن کاملبررسی و مقایسه تأثیر آتراکوریوم و پانکرونیوم بر روی فشار داخل کره چشم در اعمال جراحی کاتاراکت
Introduction: Cataract is an opacified lens and senile cataract is a common disorder. It is desirable to reduce intraocular pressure (IOP) in order to minimize intra and post operative difficulties and complications. Many researches have studied the effects of muscle relaxants on IOP. Comparison effect of atracurium and pancuronium on IOP has been evaluated in one study with a small sample size...
متن کاملEffects of Ventilation and Sucrose Concentrations on the Growth and Plantlet Anatomy of Micropropagated Persian Walnut Plants
Plantlets grown in conventional tissue culture systems usually encounter physiological and anatomical abnormalities including inability to photosynthesize, low chlorophyll content, open stomata, lack of a cuticle layer in the leaf, abnormal xylem parenchyma etc. Photoautotrophic and photomixotrophic systems could diminish these problems. The purpose of this study was to increase the chlorophyll...
متن کاملDevelopment of a visual Basic 6.0 based smart application for the design and selection of local exhaust ventilation systems
Introduction: Air pollution in industrial work environments has adverse effects on worker health, for example, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and asthma. These diseases impose direct and indirect costs on society. In hierarchy controls, local exhaust ventilation is considered an "engineering control" to remove or control contaminants released in indoor work environments. It is one of the...
